3. Luckily, ten or twelve days home after Elko cured my crowd-founderedness and refilled my performance reservoir just in time to join Wylie on stage again in Ellensburg, WA at the Spirit Of The West Cowboy Gathering—their fifth anniversary and my third appearance at the event. I especially enjoyed my word-spurring at the two furniture stores in town, Fitterer’s and Shaw’s—first venues of my 35 years where the audience listened to my work from Barcaloungers, Lazy Boys, chaise lounges, and couches so plush they literally swallowed poetry aficionados whole. My friend, Connie Cuff, will be posting on my Facebook page some video of Wylie & The Wild West and Yours Truly collaborating during the Saturday Matinee show. Drummer Rick Bryceson and I aced the rodeo rap titled LSD. You’ll also get a glimpse of my spurlick mazurka to Rodeo To The Bone, a BIZARzyski-Gustafson co-write that Wylie recorded on his BUCKING HORSE MOON CD. |
It’s advisable to view this footage no less than 3 or 4 cocktails into your evening’s happy hour. I was honored to share venues with Yvonne Hollenbeck and Dave Stamey, as well as Wylie and the band. To be brutally honest, however, we all played second fiddle to the standing-room-only Ian Tyson concert Friday night, which blew the roof off the Central Washington University Music Building—when will the sonofabuck learn that he’s pushin’ 80 and it’s high time he pass on the mantel to us pushin’-60-year-olds! |
